This is the debut album from one of the best and probable the most well-known metal bands from Spain and it can compare with such releases as Resistencia´s “Hecho En Venezuela” or Riff’s “Ruedas De Metal” in the fact that it’s more on the hard rock side than in the metal side. Still it’s one of those essential albums for any Spanish-speaking metalhead to own, as the two aforementioned albums too. This is the album that started a long run of releases where Baron Rojo could do no wrong.
The album has lots of fast-paced hard rock/primitive speed metal moments and also some mid-paced utter heavy riffs thrown in to make it as memorable as possible.
It starts off with pure speed metal ownage in the form of “Con Botas Sucias” which has a superb riff work and a really memorable chorus, all held tight by consistent drumming. Next is “Anda Suelto Satanas” and it’s another absolute highlight that relies on the top notch mid-paced riffage and its catchy chorus. And then at 3:00 we have a raucous and bloody scream followed by a top quality bass groove and then the song ends. The title track “Larga Vida Al Rock & Roll” is a catchy and intense fast-paced tune with lots of melodic leads and it probably features the band’s most memorable chorus ever. “Chica De La Ciudad” is a cool mid-paced number with overt catchiness, nice shredding soloing and love lyrics about a girl from the city. Then “Baron Rojo” is another enjoyable track that closes the album in a great fashion.
Then there are other songs like “Los Desertores Del Rock” or “El Presidente” which aren´t bad by any means but they are a bit of a lightweight when compared to “Con Botas Sucias” or “Anda Suelto Satanas”.
Conclusion: It features some of the best and most classic tunes from Baron Rojo and the other songs are pretty good too. --- Written by Gabometal86 on April 8th, 2005
